My name is Bill Medley and I'm the founder of Gold Medal Inspections.

It seems like I’ve always been in the housing business, in one form or another. My Father was a builder and a real estate broker for 40 years. He instilled in me a love for houses and the housing industry. His enthusiasm was contagious, driving me to obtain my real estate broker’s license when I was twenty six. But, I had earlier discovered my first love was aviation.

So, off I went to an aviation career, earning my wings in the Navy and retiring as an airline captain from Continental Airlines. While I loved aviation, I never really left houses behind because, during my aviation career, I was continually investing in and rebuilding houses. The airline career fortunately gave me the spare time, and I had the desire.

When I retired from the airline, I had the opportunity to return fulltime to my other love: the housing industry. I wasted little time in obtaining my Texas Professional Inspector license and began inspecting potential investment houses.

I eventually recognized the inspection business as an opportunity to apply all the lessons and disciplines I had learned from aviation. To fly airplanes successfully for forty years required one to have an open mind toward technology, a great respect for education, and an eye for detail. Inspecting houses has many similar demands.

So, a short time later Gold Medal Inspections was born. I found a few very good inspectors willing to work with me. All of them have those unique qualities that I believe necessary be a success in this, or any business. They are extremely well qualified as inspectors, have a great depth of knowledge of not only inspections, but many facets of the housing industry and, very importantly, are “user friendly” with our clients. Everything in our power is used to make sure you get the best possible inspection. It takes us extra time to do our inspections. It takes extra training to stay up to date. It takes extra effort put all the information together from your house and give you a comprehensive report. But, we do all that to give you that same level of quality that I had to produce in my former career.
